Thomas from the series Les Parent is in the kitchen with his brother. They’re mixing together the different juices their mother has bought to try to improve the taste.
After tasting their invention, Thomas says: il manque encore de quoi, or “there’s still something missing.”
In speech, il is often pronounced informally as y. Thomas pronounced il manque as y manque.
The plural form ils is also often pronounced informally as y. You may hear things like ils pensent and ils disent sound like y pensent and y disent.
If you’re wondering, Thomas added a raw egg, Nutella, ice cream and a few other things to his juice to make it taste better!
