In a scene from the TV series 30 vies, two teachers are talking to each other in the staff room of the school where they work. The two teachers are Vincent and Ariane.
During their conversation, Vincent gets a little frustrated with Ariane. Ariane notices that Vincent is annoyed, and she tells him to not get angry:
Fâche-toi pas!
Don’t get angry (calm down)!
This is an informal way of saying ne te fâche pas. You can hear fâche-toi pas between people who are on familiar terms with each other.
While on the topic of anger, you might also like to learn the following expression:
M’en veux-tu?
Are you angry with me? Are you mad at me?
This is what a male character asks Ariane in this same episode because he believes that she’s upset with him. He also asks her:
T’es fâchée?
T’es is an informal way of pronouncing tu es. It sounds like té.

Au plaisir de vous lire de nouveau!
Ive been really wanting to see this series and Ive tried finding the seasons on DVD through amazon but there is nothing there! Do you know if it is even available on DVD?? Also, Is there another series that you can recommend from Québec? Something very popular ? 😀 Merci mille fois!
I’ve just checked a few sites online, and I can’t find 30 vies available on DVD. It’s available on tou.tv right now, if you can view the programming.
Two other series that I’ve quoted from a lot are Les Parent and La Galère. They’re both available on DVD.
Les Parent has subtitles. La Galère doesn’t. You could start with Les Parent with the subtitles on, and then give yourself a challenge without subtitles by watching La Galère.
I live in the United States, and the broadcasts are not available here, even through tou.tv because I do not live in Canada. I would gladly purchase a DVD series if it were available from a Canadian vendor.
A few series that I’ve quoted from and that are available on DVD are La Galère, Tout sur moi, Les Parent, 19-2. Try archambault.ca or renaud-bray.com.
